Why B197 is the new standard.

In the past, you had to choose: Either stressful manual shifting (Class B) or restricted automatic (Class B78). B197 combines the best of both worlds.

You complete most of your training and the exam relaxed on automatic vehicles. Through integrated manual competence training (min. 10 driving hours + 15 min test drive with the instructor), you are still allowed to drive manual cars worldwide. No restriction on your license.

Your Way to the License

Training & Process

From registration to the exam: We structure your training efficiently so you save costs and time.

1. Theory & Simulator

While your application is being processed at KVR Munich (approx. 8-10 weeks), you do the theory lessons (8 lessons per week intensive possible!) and the first hours in the simulator.

2. Practical (Automatic)

With B197, we start relaxed on the automatic vehicle. You learn to observe traffic without thinking about shifting. In parallel, we train manual shifting in a block.

3. Special Rides & Exam

After the compulsory lessons (cross-country, autobahn, night), exam preparation follows. You take the exam relaxed in an automatic car.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is B197 more expensive than normal B?
Usually not, often even cheaper. Since students learn faster on the automatic vehicle (less stalling, less stress), they often need fewer practice hours until they are ready for the exam. The base fee and special rides are identical.
Can I drive rental cars with B197?
Yes, without restrictions. Since no key number 78 (automatic restriction) is entered in the license, you can drive any manual car and any automatic car worldwide.
How fast can I get the license?
We offer intensive courses for theory (8 lessons per week). The practical part depends on your time availability and the processing time of the application at KVR Munich. Realistically plan for 4 months.
