How much does a driving license cost in Munich?
Costs depend mainly on the number of driving lessons required. The individual cost breakdown shows Peters Fahrschule costs such as the base fee, lessons, special drives and clearly labelled driving-school test-presentation fees. TÜV SÜD invoices its test fees directly; authority and other external costs are shown separately.
Can I get my driving license in English in Munich?
Yes. You can take the official theory exam in English, our learning app is available in several languages, and our instructors guide you through driving lessons in English or German. Register online or visit one of the three open locations. Baldham is in preparation; opening is planned for 1 September 2026.
Should I learn automatic or manual?
With Class B197, most training and the test take place in an automatic car. After at least ten 45-minute lessons in a manual vehicle and a test drive lasting at least 15 minutes, you may drive both manual and automatic Class B vehicles. If you later plan to obtain BE, C1, C or another class, ask us about the choice of test vehicle because an automatic restriction can become relevant.
How long does the driver's license training take?
Our intensive theory block can be completed in 14 days. We can schedule practical training compactly when capacity allows, but do not guarantee completion by a fixed date: the application, learning progress, required driving lessons, exam availability and authority appointments determine the total duration.
Do you also offer BF17 (accompanied driving)?
Yes! Accompanied driving from 17 is very popular with us. The training corresponds to Class B, but you can drive with your accompanying persons from your 17th birthday before you take to the road independently at 18.
Can I switch from another driving school?
Yes, switching driving schools is possible at any time — and easier than you think. All your previous driving lessons, special drives and theory lessons (valid for up to 2 years) are fully credited. We handle the paperwork.
What does the 2027 driving license reform mean for me?
A draft bill and a draft ordinance are available, but the procedure is not complete. The dates and measures set out in the drafts are not binding. Current law continues to apply until an effective amendment is made. Our 2027 reform fact check separates the current status, proposals and open questions.
At which locations do you offer the training?
The open locations are Munich-Haidhausen, Munich-Giesing and the Peters location in Haar. Baldham/Vaterstetten is in preparation; opening is planned for 1 September 2026 and it remains announced until later operator confirmation.
