Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about the B96 Course.

Do I need to take an exam?
No. There is neither a theoretical nor a practical exam at TÜV or DEKRA. You simply need to attend the 7-hour one-day course. At the end, we issue you an official certificate.
How much does the B96 course cost?
The one-day course costs 499 € at Peters Fahrschule – everything included. Additionally, there are approx. 40 euros in authority fees at the KVR München for registering code number 96 and the new driver's license card. When registering together as a pair, the second person receives a 50% discount.
How do I get the 50% discount?
Write to us via the contact form stating that you are coming as a pair and booking the same date. We activate the discount manually and issue the invoice so that the second person only pays half.
Do I need my own vehicle or trailer?
No. We provide modern towing vehicles (Audi/VW) and suitable trailers for the entire training. You only need to bring your driver's license.
What happens after the course – how does the registration work?
After the course, you receive our certificate. You take it to the KVR München along with your biometric passport photo, driver's license, and ID card. You receive a new driver's license card with code number 96. Only then are you allowed to drive combinations up to 4,250 kg!
What is the difference between B96 and Class BE?
B96 allows combinations up to 4,250 kg total weight, requires no exam, and costs 499 € with us. Class BE allows up to 7,000 kg, requires a practical exam at TÜV, and costs 800–1,200 €. For most caravans and horse trailers, B96 is perfectly sufficient.
Can I take the B96 course at age 17?
Yes, as part of Accompanied Driving (BF17), B96 is possible from age 17, provided you already have Class B (or are obtaining it simultaneously). Registration at the KVR then takes place from your 18th birthday.
