Plan Smart

Why the Combo (C+CE) pays off.

If you want to drive professionally, you usually need the "big one" (CE). We almost always recommend training in a combined course.

By combining Class C (truck) and CE (trailer) in one training course, you save legally required special driving lessons. This not only reduces costs but also significantly shortens the time to getting your license.

Special Lessons (Required) Separate (C + CE) Combo (C & CE)
Cross-country 10 hours (5+5) 8 hours
Motorway 4 hours (2+2) 3 hours
Night driving 6 hours (3+3) 3 hours
Savings 6 fewer driving lessons

*Figures in driving lessons of 45 minutes with existing Class B license.

C1 & C1E Combo Savings Plan

Even for "light" trucks (up to 7.5t), combined training pays off. If you want to tow heavy trailers (e.g. boat trailers, horse trailers or ambulance trailers), you need C1E.

The advantage: When you apply for C1 and C1E at the same time, the legally required special driving lessons are drastically reduced. You save real money and valuable time during training.

Special Lessons (Required) Separate (C1 + C1E) Combo (C1 + C1E)
Cross-country 10 hours (5+5) 8 hours
Motorway 4 hours (2+2) 3 hours
Night driving 6 hours (3+3) 3 hours
Total Savings 6 fewer driving lessons

*Valid with existing Class B license.

Process

Procedure & Authorities

The truck driver's license requires more paperwork than a car license. We support you with the application.

1. Medical Report & Application

You need a medical and ophthalmological report. The application at the KVR/District Office takes approx. 8-10 weeks.

2. Theory (Block Course)

We offer special truck theory blocks so you can complete the material in a compact and efficient way.

3. Intensive Practice

Once the application is approved, we start the driving lessons. We often schedule double lessons to use driving time efficiently.

Important Info

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need Class C1 before Class C?
No. If you hold a car driver's license (Class B), you can go directly for the heavy truck license (Class C). The detour via C1 is not necessary.
Is the license valid forever?
Class C/CE licenses are limited to 5 years. For renewal, you must submit medical reports (no new exam required). Class C1 (up to 7.5t) is generally valid until age 50.
How much does the truck license cost?
Costs vary greatly depending on existing licenses and skill level. The C+CE combo training is the most economical option. Commercial clients can often use subsidies (education vouchers/employment agency). We are happy to advise you.
