Go to Theory Planner ➔Basic Material vs. Additional Material
Every theory training in Germany is divided into two areas. Exact compliance with these requirements is mandatory for admission to the theoretical driver's license exam.
General Basic Material (Topic 1-12)
The basic material forms the foundation of traffic law (right of way, signs, behavior). Here, the legislator focuses on achieving the total number of completed double lessons.
Class-Specific Additional Material
This module covers the in-depth technical specifics of the booked vehicle class (e.g. two-wheel riding physics or truck braking systems).
The Hours Overview
Calculated in double lessons (90 min. each). Compare the mandatory hours for first-time acquisition or upgrade.
Car
Car Training
Fundamentals, hazard awareness & vehicle technology for cars.
Two-Wheeler
Motorcycle & Scooter
Riding physics, lean angle technique and passive road safety.
Truck
Heavy Traffic
Professional drivers, cargo securing & social regulations.

About Theory Lessons in Munich
How many theory lessons do I need for a car driver's license (Class B)?
Can you attend theory lessons twice?
Yes, for basic material: It is legally permitted to attend the general lessons 1 to 12 multiple times in order to reach the required total number of hours (e.g. 12 units for first-time acquisition). So if you miss topic 4, you can attend topic 5 twice.
No, for additional material: For the class-specific part (e.g. car technology or special motorcycle physics), there is mandatory attendance without exception for every defined lesson. Duplicate attendance is not accepted by the system for exam registration.
