With the Class B197 driver's license, you can drive both manual and automatic vehicles worldwide. This class combines the advantages of both gear types after the driver's license test. If you already have an automatic driving license (B78), you can purchase the B197 extension. To do this, you need a shift training of at least 10×45 minutes and a 15-minute shifting competence test in the driving school—a new official examination is not required.
A total of 14 theory lessons are required for the class B driver's license. These consist of 12 basic lessons and 2 class-specific lessons.
