Frequently Asked Questions about Theory Classes
How many theory lessons do I need for a Class B (car) license?
For the first acquisition of Class B, you need a total of 14 theory lessons: 12 hours of core content (topics 1–12) and 2 hours of class-specific content (topics 13–14). For a license extension (e.g. B96 or BE), only 6 core lessons and 2 class-specific lessons are required.
What is the difference between core content and class-specific topics?
The core content covers topics 1–12 and deals with general traffic rules, right of way, speed and road behaviour. It is identical for all license classes. The class-specific topics are individual – for Class B these are topic 13 (technology) and topic 14 (solo vehicle driving). Motorcycle (Class A) has 4 additional topics, trucks (Class C) even 10.
Do I have to attend theory lessons in a specific order?
No, the order is freely selectable. You can start at any topic and complete the lessons according to your own schedule. The only important thing is that you have attended all mandatory topics in the end. You can also attend lessons at different branches (Haidhausen, Giesing or Haar).
At which locations does theory class take place?
Peters Driving School offers theory classes at three locations in Munich: Haidhausen, Giesing and Haar. Core content and Class B topics are offered at all three branches. Motorcycle topics (Class A) are exclusively held in Haidhausen, truck topics (Class C) exclusively in Haar.
How long is a theory lesson?
One theory lesson lasts 90 minutes (double lesson). Usually two sessions take place per evening – at 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm. You can attend one or both sessions per evening.
Can I attend theory class as an intensive course?
Yes, at Peters Driving School you can complete up to 8 theory lessons per week by combining appointments at multiple branches. This allows you to complete the entire core content in less than two weeks. More information on our intensive course page.
When can I take the theory exam?
As soon as you have attended all mandatory theory lessons, you can register for the theory exam. The exam can be taken at the earliest 3 months before reaching the minimum age. We recommend practising regularly with the learning app alongside your theory lessons so that you are optimally prepared.
What does theory class cost at Peters Driving School?
Theory classes are included in the base fee of your driver training – there are no additional costs per theory lesson. You can find the exact base fee for your license class in our Theory Calculator or ask at any of our branches.
