VW ID.3 Elektro – your driving school car for Class B in Munich

Lift your foot off the accelerator and the ID.3 slows to a complete stop on its own – silent, no need to touch the brake. This one-pedal driving is exactly what makes starting out in Haidhausen traffic so relaxed. At Peters Fahrschule you learn on a car that works with you, not against you.

Why you learn in the VW ID.3 Elektro

What we focus on with our learners in the ID.3 is one-pedal driving. Thanks to recuperation, the car already slows the moment you ease off the accelerator – in the strongest mode all the way to a full stop. So you control speed and following distance mostly with your right foot, keeping your brake foot free for the situations that really need it. Beginners develop a feel for anticipatory driving faster this way: you look further ahead because you come off the power early instead of braking late. In the stop-and-go on Rosenheimer Strasse that's worth its weight in gold – fewer pedal swaps, less jerking, a calmer head. The silent drivetrain helps too: you hear cyclists and other sounds more clearly and stay fully focused on observing traffic. You still learn braking, steering and scanning, of course – one-pedal driving just removes the stress, not the responsibility.

Technology & equipment at a glance

Drivetrain 100% electric, rear-wheel drive – no clutch, no shifting. Your head is free for observing traffic instead of picking gears.
Power 204 hp (150 kW). Merging onto the A94 or the Mittlerer Ring, you slot in with ease and no frantic acceleration.
Transmission Single-speed automatic – stalling is physically impossible. On a Giesing hill you never roll back, which takes huge pressure off the test.
Recuperation Slows to a stop when you lift off the accelerator. This is our one-pedal theme: ease off early instead of constantly swapping to the brake.
IQ.Drive assistance Emergency brake and lane-keeping assist. We use them as a safety net while practising – in the test you hold and check the lane yourself.
AR head-up display Projects speed and prompts into your line of sight on the road. You keep your eyes ahead instead of glancing at the dash – ideal for reading traffic early.

Assistance systems are a learning aid – you take the exam yourself.

What you may drive

Learning on the ID.3 automatic follows the B197 rule: you train relaxed in the EV without shifting, add a few manual practice sessions, and still earn the unrestricted Class B licence – manual cars included. You get the calm electric start without ending up with an "automatic only" restriction on your licence.

Locations & test area Munich East

At the lights on Rosenheimer Strasse heading to Ostbahnhof in heavy rush-hour traffic: you just lift off the accelerator, the ID.3 coasts gently and stops. No pedal swap, no jerking – while manual cars ahead nervously hunt for the clutch on the slope, your head is free for the cyclists in the bike lane.

Locations: Haidhausen (Rosenheimer Str. 86), Giesing (Grünwalder Str. 12) & Haar (Münchener Str. 13).

Frequently asked questions

Do you forget how to brake properly in an EV?

No. One-pedal driving only handles the gentle, anticipatory slowing. You still use and practise the mechanical brake pedal for every firmer or sudden stop – which is exactly what the test requires.

Isn't 204 hp too much for a beginner?

The power comes in smoothly and without gear jolts, so the car feels calmer than many manuals. You meter it with one pedal, with emergency brake assist running as a safety net. For city traffic in eastern Munich it's very manageable.
